Understanding AMD

Macular degeneration is a common condition that affects the macula, the central part of the retina responsible for sharp vision. It can make reading, driving, and recognizing faces more difficult.

There are two primary forms of AMD: dry (atrophic) and wet (neovascular). Dry AMD progresses more slowly while wet AMD can cause rapid vision changes and requires prompt treatment.

Difficulty reading or seeing fine details.
Changes in color perception or contrast.

Treatment Options

Treatment depends on the type and stage of macular degeneration. Options may include vitamin therapy, lifestyle guidance, and in-office injections for wet AMD. Regular monitoring helps protect vision.
